Country Elevator Applications of CME Grain Sorghum Basis Futures Contract
View Presentation - Great Bend - August 11, 2026
REGISTRATION IS CLOSED. Please check back here for future meetings.
On August 24, the CME will launch a grain sorghum basis futures contract. The purpose of this contract is to provide an instrument that can hedge the price difference between sorghum and corn. Dan O’Brien and Guy Allen at Kansas State University have conducted research to assess ‘why’ this new contract is needed and the implications of this new contract for the Kansas country elevator system. Employees of the Kansas country elevator system interested in this topic are invited to attend this discussion along with ample time for questions and answers. Lunch will be provided.
There is no fee, but registration is required for lunch.
